Hello RPA Parents/Guardians, [For Easy-to-Read Bullet Points Scroll Down]

We are unfortunately emailing with some disappointing news. We have recently found out we did not receive Arts Council England Funding for our film project Streetlights. Therefore, it cannot be made into a film. We are absolutely devastated by this news and please know our leaders and staff are saddened by this.

However, we do not want to prevent opportunity from happening to our young people, so we have our amazing back-up plan! A chance to perform on the main stage at the Wyvern!

Streetlights is now a live performance on the 6th of July at the Wyvern Theatre. We know this will mean some young people will not be able to take part because of this and we are so sorry for this. However, this will also allow other young people to be a part of this project now! This will be a wonderful thing for pupils to step onto the stage as we know it can be daunting to see yourself on screen. Therefore, we are asking everybody to reconfirm if your young person can do the project by the end of March!

Going forward we will allocate a 40 mins- 1hour slot on the Saturday 6th July (sometime between 9:30am-4:30pm) for their tech rehearsal. All RPA students will then return at 4:30pm and depart at approximately 9:15pm.

We will send an individual email to each group once we have curated logistics. You do not need to hold dates in April and MayIf your child attends more than one group, they will be invited to more than one slot during that day – look out for those separate emails. The performance fee remains the same and are for individual young people, not groups.

  • To those in our Malmesbury Classes (Crudwell/Siddington/Malmesbury All Stars (Weds/Sat)/Malmesbury Rapport/Malmesbury Street Dance), we are aware it is the weekend of the Minety Festival and you have to travel from Malmesbury to Swindon. We will therefore, aim to work your tech rehearsals towards the end of the schedule, so you will be around the area ready to see the performance in the evening!
  • To those who attend Ridgeway Secondary School, Laura is in communications with the school about scheduling this around the carnival.

We would like to say how grateful we are for the support and joy we have received for many parents/guardians who have passed on their well-wishes for us to secure this funding and we completely understand how disappointing this is.

To help us in the future, here is our show Feedback Form. This will allow you to tell us what you would like RPA to do in the future. It will help curate work that meets the needs of our young people! Please answer this, it is super quick! HERE.

This confirmation will now allow you to secure your tickets Streetlights with the knowledge you won’t need to purchase for your young people, as they will be onstage! Tickets available here!

Thank you for all your support of RPA! We mean this more now than ever. Onwards and upwards!

All the best,

The RPA Team ❤️
