We are very excited to let you know about a brand new class we are running that we think may appeal to your young person – RPA Rapport CIC South.

Rapport is aimed at young people of secondary school age and explores all forms of Performing arts including drama, singing and dance as well as ‘behind the scenes’ arts such as design, tech and stage management. Rapport focuses on confidence, self-expression and celebrating your young person’s uniqueness and individuality. We like to empower our teens to help them through the years of secondary and to have a safe space to attend every week and build friendships for life through a non-elitist, young person led performing arts class.

We hope this is good news for many of you!

The class will be on Wednesdays 7:30-9pm at Wroughton Parish Church Hall, Priors Hill, Wroughton, SN4 0RT for 11–18-year-olds (Years 7-13) and run by the wonderful Rebecca Rocker. As well as our weekly sessions the group will have the opportunity to perform in both a theatre production and a film between now and next summer – with many more opportunities to follow!

A little note about Rebecca (the leader):

I’ve loved performing arts from a very early age and I spent much of my childhood at dance classes. I graduated from Exeter University in 2011 with a first class BA(Hons) degree in Drama. I then trained to be a secondary Drama and English (PGCE), before taking up my first teaching post in west Swindon. I spent four years teaching KS3, GCSE and Alevel Drama, including a couple of years as Head of Drama. In 2015, I joined Swindon theatre company Gatecrash Theatre. I performed in ‘Jerusalem’ and ‘Breathing Corpses’, and enjoyed inviting my Drama classes to come and watch! I also directed ‘Constellations’, performed at the Swindon Arts Centre and the Alma Tavern, in Bristol. I left formal education in 2016 to work at English Heritage, using active learning approaches to bring history to life for school groups of all ages visiting historic places. I keep my passion for performing arts education alive by working as a freelance workshop facilitator. I love the buzz of being in a drama studio while creative collaborations are happening. I believe passionately in the arts and their ability to transform the lives of the people who take part, and society at large and I cannot wait to meet and start working creatively with the young people.

This class is starting on 4th October 2023, and your young person is more than welcome to come for a free trial then! If you already attend Rapport on a Thursday in Swindon, you are still invited to join this one instead or as well as your current class as the content will be different.

If your young person is interested please enrol them here: Enrol With Revolution Performing Arts – Revolution Performing Arts (revolutionpa.co.uk) and select ‘Rapport South’

Please inform us of any questions, we are more than happy to help.
